The Austrian Mint managed to add elegance, history, and music to its catalog of products through the release of the Viena Philharmonic Series. Beautifully designed using the Viena Philharmonic motif, this series offers several sizes of coins in both silver and gold. Introduced in 2014, the 1/25 oz gold coin is the smallest piece of the collection, with .9999 pure gold and a face value of 4 Euro backed by the Austrian Mint. SD Bullion proudly offers an entire inventory of the world’s best-selling gold coins for the best premiums. Coin Highlights 1/25 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold; Part of the Vienna Philharmonic Series; Face Value of 4 Euro; Guaranteed by the Austrian Mint; The design is a Thomas Pesendorfer creation. The Coin’s Design The series has the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra as the central theme. Thomas Pesendorfer, who signs the final design, is the Austrian Mint Chief Engraver. The obverse showcases the pipe organ from the Goldener Saal, or the Golden Hall, a ceremonial room of the Augsburg Town Hall, famous for its paintings and gold walls decoration. The room was destroyed in 1944, reconstructed in 1996, and became a symbol of the nation. Friedrich Ladegast built the pipe organ in 1872, which has gone through innovations and relocations.  But the image imprinted on the coin takes after the original traces of the instrument. The words engraved above the organ “Republik Oesterreich” refers to the Austrian nation, and under the organ, to the coin’s identity: weight, purity, metal content, face value, and year of issuance. The reverse depicts eight orchestral instruments, including violins, a cello, the Viennese horn, a bassoon, and a harp. On this side, the only engraving on the upper rim is the name of the Orchestra. The Austrian Mint The history of the Austrian Mint dates back to 1194, in a scenario of crusades and the legendary Richard Lionheart. Still, the official documents of the first minting only date 200 years later. The first facilities had various locations until it finally settled in Vienna in the 19th century, where the Mint is still based. The Vienna Principal Mint became unique in 1919 with the formation of the Republic of Austria. And in 1989, when it became the official subsidiary of the Austrian National Bank, the mint changed its name to Austrian Mint. Buy 2022 1/25 oz Gold Philharmonics at SD Bullion.
