Buy New Design 2021 Silver American Eagle Coins Online The American Silver Eagle carries on its extended history in a new issue, featuring for the first time since its release in 1986 a new reverse design. While being the most popular silver bullion coin in the world, in company with its gold counterpart, the year of 2021 celebrates the 35th anniversary of the program. With the changes decided by the US Mint, this marks the first time in Silver Eagle history that the coin will have a major design change and two different designs in the same year, since mintage started in early 2021 with the same combination of obverse-reverse from previous issues. Please Note: The new mint seals used on tubes of silver eagles are extremely fragile, in many cases already being broken upon arrival to our vault. We are doing everything in our ability to prevent the seals from breaking but this issue wont be completely resolved until it gets addressed by the US Mint. Coin Highlights 1 troy ounce of .999 pure silver in BU condition 2021 is the 35th anniversary of the American Silver Eagles Designer Emily Damtra’s depiction of a bald eagle amidst flight on the coin’s new reverse design Adolph A. Weinman’s “Walking Liberty” on the coin’s obverse Lowest Price at SD Bullion The New 2021 1 oz Silver Eagle Design The US Mint has decided to change the design of both the 2021 Silver Eagle’s reverse and the Gold Eagle’s reverse halfway through 2021. By doing so, this represents the first time in the Silver Eagle Program’s history that the coin will have a major design change, along with having two different designs in the same year. Silver Eagle Obverse Design Adolph. A Weinman’s classic depiction of Lady Liberty is featured in the obverse of the 2021 Silver Eagle coin. In her streamlined robes, the goddess Liberty is shown pacing towards a sun that sheds the prominent landforms of the horizon. Holding an olive branch in her left arm, while reaching forward with her right arm, Lady Liberty is depicted mantled by an American flag which dances with the breeze. To her right, the US motto present on all US coins, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is minted along with the word “LIBERTY,” which goes around the top of the coin with spread out characters. The coin year “2021” marks its presence at the bottom of its obverse, near the feet of Lady Liberty. The obverse face features a “W” beneath the words “In God We Trust.” This W is a tribute to Adolph A. Weinman, the artist who designed the original Lady Liberty featured on this face. If there were a letter on the reverse side beneath the bald eagle, this would indicate the mint in which the coin was struck. For example, a “W” would mean the coin was minted at West Point Mint. Silver Eagle Reverse Design The new 2021 American Silver Eagle reverse design features designer Emily Damtra’s depiction of a bald eagle – America’s national bird – in its natural state, amidst flight, while enveloping an oak branch between its talons, making its way to somewhere of safety, in the moments before landing. Around the edge of the coin, the inscription reads “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR”. The national motto, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, is located above the weight of the coin. New vs Old Design The old design features a depiction of a bald eagle on the famous Heraldic Eagle form, with a shield along with stripes in front of it The new design presents a bald eagle amidst flight, embracing an oak branch in its talons Both renditions contain the inscriptions reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, though the new design has it inscribed around the edge of the coin, on top of the weight, while the old features it along the eagle’s wings The 13 stars inscribed on top of the Heraldic Eagle on the old design do not appear on the new reverse, making way for the complete depiction of the new bald eagle’s flight The Silver Eagles Mintage The 2021 Silver Eagles are minted using 1 troy ounce of 999 pure silver, while also being in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coin only weighs 1 ounce, while its gold equivalent weighs 1 ounce, 1⁄2 ounce, 1⁄4 ounce, and 1/10 oz. The US Mint gets the silver blanks they use from the private well-regarded Idaho-based Sunshine Mint. Each blank is tested by a US Mint employee by hand before being used in the minting process. Added to it, the mint often randomly chooses blanks to be sent to their laboratory with tests to ensure that the blanks are the right size, weight, density, and purity. On top of that, before they are put in their tubes and then in the eagle monster boxes for shipping from the mint plant, each Silver Eagle is often examined by hand. The count of 20 per tube is also checked before the mint straps are sealed in the case. While the Silver Eagle bullion is the most prominent United States Mint silver item that SD Bullion has available, there are also other US Mint products available for purchase. This includes Graded Silver Eagles, Silver Eagle Proofs, the ATB Coins, and 90 percent junk silver is last but not least. The American Silver Eagle Series The American Eagle program was started by the United States Mint in 1986, with the yearly release of new gold and silver bullion coins issues. Quickly gaining traction while consolidating itself with top-notch craftsmanship in its products, the program saw much success in its years, being arguably one of the most successful, best-selling bullion coin programs in the world today. After the successful integration of the gold and silver coins, the US Mint later introduced two new products to this series, the Platinum Eagle Coins, which had their entry in 1997, and the Palladium Eagle Coins, more recently in 2017.
