And for those who understand the value of having silver coins and gold coins in a diversified investment portfolio, American Silver  Eagles are a must-have item to investors and collectors. Over the years, specialists have agreed that bullion tends to perform better in times of market turmoil and fiat currencies devaluation. Because of their intrinsic value, precious metals tend to remain valuable over the years and suffer less with financial instabilities.  American Silver Eagles Series is a combination of high percentage of metal content and a beautiful design. These coins carry 1 oz of .999 pure silver and face value of one dollar backed up by the Federal government. 1993 Silver Eagle Highlights: 1 troy ounce of .999 pure silver; Eligible for IRAs; 8th issue of the American Silver Eagle series; Face value of $1, backed by the Federal Government; Obverse design: The Walking Liberty, by Adolph A. Weinman; Reverse design: The famous Heraldic Eagle, by John M. Mercati. The 1993 Silver Eagle Design Recognized as one of the most famous designs ever minted, the beautiful Walking Liberty is the motif engraved on the Silver Eagle’s obverse. The reverse features the Heraldic Eagle, a national symbol of strength and patriotism. Silver Eagle Obverse Design The obverse side is a creation of Adolph A. Weinman, which dates back to 1917.It was originally intended for the US Half Dollar. The Silver Eagle Program rescued this design to be the face of the new one-dollar coin as it was already popular among Americans. Lady Liberty is the feminine depiction of the nation. In the image, the American flag lays on her shoulder as she walks towards the sun, carrying oak branches. She also has her right arm open, welcoming those who look for a new beginning and opportunities in the country. The only inscriptions engraved on this side are: “LIBERTY”, above the lady, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, on her right and the year of issuance on the bottom rim. Silver Eagle Reverse Design The reverse showcases the Heraldic Eagle. John Mercanti, who created the image, used to be the Chief Engraver in the US Mint at that time. He depicted the eagle behind the national shield, with open wings around the shield, as in a protection pose. The eagle carries a banner on its beak, which has the words “E PLURIBUS UNUM” imprinted on it. And in its talons, it grasps arrows and olive branches. The Thirteen Original Colonies are represented by the five-pointed stars forming a triangular shape above the eagle. The words engraved on this side are: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “1 OZ FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR”. The Silver Eagle Mintage 1993 was an excellent year for the US Mint. The bullion version of the 1993 American Silver Eagles sold almost 7 million units for investors and collectors alike. However, the Proof Silver Eagles did not experience the same success.  1993 had the second lowest mintage of proof versions: only 405,913 units. The Philadelphia Mint was in charge of that production and for the first time, this Mint engraved the letter “P” as a mint mark on the coins, to identify their origin. The high demand for mintage was only the tip of the iceberg. The following years were severe with mintages falling not only for proof versions, but also for bullion coins. 1993 Silver Eagles for Sale You can order 1993 American Silver Eagles for the lowest premiums over the silver spot price at SD Bullion’s website or call one of our professional bullion dealers at 1-800-294-8732.
