On the obverse side of this bar is a full color depiction of the popular painting, “Cillf Houses on the Rio” by artist and explorer, William Henry Holmes,  from the Smithsonian Art collection with a silver frame around it.  Here the original oil painting is rendered in vivid color on a bar that can be held in your hand. Holmes’ painting is a stunning image of pueblo houses against Colorado cliffs above the Rio Mancos. This painting was completed in 1878 and was among 2.8 million images of art released to the public through creative commons. The Osborne Mint selected some of these pieces of art, which many people maybe didn’t know existed and put them on silver bars so the buyer can hold these art pieces in their own hands. A whole new audience gets to appreciate this beautiful  painting.        
 
The reverse side of the bar continues the framed art theme with what looks like hanging wire and hardware.
